Under instructions of the artist Christof Glamm a new form is given to the sandstone. No matter if sculpture, animal or ornament, the stone can be alone or be integrated into a bench. Knüpfel and iron require a courageous hand.
On the playground of the Otto Wels elementary school a special sandpit will be created in which treasures are buried and maybe these will be discovered by other children. What will the treasures be? What do they tell us? This Workshop becomes a small exploratory expedition.
An erratic block is a stone which was transported during the ice ages by glaciers. It distinguishes itself by its special hardness. The sculptor Toralf Jaekel will show how one can approach such a stone and how its surface changes.
Under instructions of sculptor Christoph Gramberg (Berlin) the course participants will trace down hidden forms within the wood. The participants work in smaller teams on the project. Besides learning craft abilities in working with wood, it is especially important to communicate with each other. Only an intensive exchange will guarantee a successful project. The artist Christoph Gramberg will instruct the work in all process steps and give assistance.
Anja Lübeck is a multi-talented landscape gardener with experience in project work including the users, especially in day cares and kindergartens. She will walk with the involved paths, create curiosity and fun in working on the shaped surfaces. There is something to discover.
In this workshop you will work with round timber. With the instruction of Stefan Rode, experienced carpenter, who restored church roofs, you will tackle a lot. The trunks get straighten up and will be connected, so that a tipi arises.
Wiebke Wagenführ will introduce the conference attendees to three different art techniques. With the experienced educationist you will develop implementation strategies concerning the children’s ages and requirements of the surrounding. The result will be provided to the school.
Anna Kalberer is a member of the art group “Sanfte Strukturen” (soft structures) since 1994. In spring she planted a spiral of willow with the kids of a 4th grader class. In this workshop we will tie those willow branches together so it will transform itself into a green tunnel.
